Timeline: 1987-1988 Eleanor Smeal, Peg Yorkin, Toni Carabillo, Judith Meuli, and Kathy Spillar found the Feminist Majority in the fall of 1987. The purpose is to promote equality for women and men, non-violence, social justice and economic development and to enhance feminist participation in public policy. The mission is to empower feminists, who are the majority, and to win equality for women at the decision-making tables of the state, nation, and the world. Feminist Majority President Eleanor Smeal, Board Chair Peg Yorkin, and National Coordinator Kathy Spillar lead a fact-finding trip to European and Scandinavian countries. They meet with women's rights leaders and public officials to discuss strategies to put more women in power and the greater success women in these countries have had in obtaining political representation for women. 1987-88 | 1989 | 1990 | 1991 | 1992 | 1993 | 1994 | 1995-96 | 1997 | 1998 | 1999 | 2000
