Timeline: 1992 HISTORIC BREAKTHROUGH - The Feminist Majority's "Feminization of Power Campaign" inspires record numbers of women to run for public office -- helping to double the percentage of women in Congress and double the rate of growth of women in state legislatures. VICTORY - Immediately after the election, The Feminist Majority focuses national attention on gender balance in Presidential and government appointments. President Clinton names more women to cabinet-level positions than ever before! Feminist Majority co-sponsors the National Organization for Women's "March for Women's Lives," the largest march in the history of the nation's capital at the time. The April 5 march brings some 750,000 pro-choice activists to Washington, DC. Feminist Majority President Eleanor Smeal travels to Oregon to help campaign against anti-gay and lesbian ballot measure. Ballot Measure 9 was defeated.
