2008 Election Results
Women to be Sworn in January 2009
There will be 91 women members of Congress in January 2009: 71 members of the House plus three nonvoting Delegates in the House of Representatives and 17 Senators. This number could increase to 92 with the election of Darcy Burner (WA-08), whose race is still too close to call. This represents only a small incremental (2%) gain over the current (2008) Congress.
